Experts in the field of autism will offer insight into how to create and sustain ongoing classes in dance, drama, music and art for individuals with autism and learning needs. The presenters have worked collaboratively over the course of a decade in Los Angeles and throughout California to develop this multimodel, hands on teaching approach. Included are excerpts from Autism Movement Therapy (a structured movement & music method) and The Miracle Project (creating original plays based on strengths & interests), as well as a Music & Expressive Therapies session (using the power of music and rhythm through drumming to motivate, express emotion & unleash personal insightfulness), and art therapy, including connecting and interacting with others through painting a giant collaborative mural. Attention is given to providing a safe place for creative collaboration & exploration through support and acceptance.
